This is an application made for the college Onam celebration. The idea is same as jackpot in horse racing, but virtual. The application is written in ActionScript 3.0 and runs on Adobe Flash Platform. The dice rolling media animation is a video file. This part is done by my friend (classmate). It's modelled in 3D using Cinema 4D and exported as a video file, which is loaded into flash.
After clicking the start button, the horses and a next button appears on the screen. Clicking the next button makes a dice to roll at random and corresponding to the outcome of the dice, that particular horse advances a step forward. The step is repeated with each next button click until one of the horses crosses the finishing line first. The horse which reaches the finishing point first is the winner and the game stops. Since we have 6 faces on a dice, we have six horses. People can purchase ticket for any horse and the ones holding the ticket for the winning horse gets some money from the pool. The outcome is unpredictable since it is based on pseudo-random numbers. Music was accompanied, but was external and not embedded within the flash program.
